Transfer news LIVE: Sanchez to City latest, Arsenal face £35m Oxlade-Chamberlain fight, plus Man United and Liverpool updates
Leicester prepared to dig their heels in over Mahrez and Co
Leicester are preparing to dig their heels in to battle for their stars as they are reluctant to do late deals, writes James Nursey.
The 2015-2016 Premier League champions have several players being chased for transfers.
Riyad Mahrez wants to speak to Serie A side Roma, Danny Drinkwater is wanted by Chelsea and last season’s champs also like Jamie Vardy.
City’s unsettled England U21 winger Demarai Gray is also wanted by Bournemouth who are offering the £25,000-a-week starlet a big pay-rise.
But there are just eight days remaining until the window closes next Thursday night.
MirrorSport understands City’s director of football Jon Rudkin, who was widely criticised over last season’s poor transfer deals, is wary of being left with little time to bring in replacements.
It has left Rudkin sticking to huge valuations including £50million for Mahrez and £40m for Drinkwater.
Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare said: “At the moment, the date is set, there’s nothing we can do about it.
“Your worst fear is that an acceptable bid comes in, but if it does, we have to deal with it then.”
