Guardiola reveals what will be his ‘greatest achievement’ at the end of the season

– Pep Guardiola says Man City defending their Premier League title would be one of his greatest achievement

– City host Leicester City on Monday night, May 6, at Etihad and a win will see them overtake Liverpool at the summit of the log

– Guardiola’s team are on course for a final tally of 98 points this season

Pep Guardiola has declared that defending the Premier League title with Man City will rank as one of the greatest achievement in his career as football manager.

Man City play host to Leicester City on Monday, May 6, at the Etihad fully aware that a win will see them top the log again and put them one point better off than Liverpool ahead of next Sunday’s matches.

According to the Goal.com report should Man City emerge EPL win the league, they will be the first team to defend their domestic title since their cross-city rivals United achieved similar feat in 2009.

Speaking about Liverpool as one of the best teams in the last 10 years, Guardiola, who also claimed title in Spain and Germany.

“Arriving at this stage, two games left with 92 points, after 100 points last season… being there, that is the most satisfaction I’ve had as a manager,” the Spaniard said, even as he was quick to add.

It’s not easy, honestly. In my career as a manager, I played against incredible sides. There are two that were ‘wow’. One is Barcelona with Luis Enrique, with Neymar, (Lionel) Messi and (Luis) Suarez in front. The other is this Liverpool.

“I think they’re the best two sides I’ve faced as a manager. That’s why being here, with it in our hands, fighting against them until the end. One of the biggest achievements.”

Interestingly, at the start of the year, Liverpool moved seven points clear of City after defeats to Crystal Palace and Leicester last December seem to have ended their quest to defend the league’s silverware

However, after Liverpool’s four draws in six matches, City’s 12 consecutive wins left the Citizens needing just two more wins to guarantee another championship has left Guardiola excited.

“I would not say that 100 points was bad and that we are not satisfied with what we did last season. I’m not going to say that. But at the same time, we were seven points behind this year. You give credit for the titles and how huge our rival is,” Guardiola noted.

I didn’t expect to get the points we have this season so far after what we did last season. Normally, the tendency for human beings is to relax a little bit.

“But the reason we were seven behind at that moment is because Liverpool were unstoppable.

“The personality is when it goes wrong and how they react in bad moments, how they stand up in the game and after a big defeat. In two seasons, we did it. We react well to knockouts in our faces.”

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed that Jurgen Klopp tutored-side Liverpool are the ‘most difficult’ rival he has faced in the league all his career.

According to Sky Sports, the Premier League defending champions are involved in one of the toughest title race in recent season with Liverpool, as they lead the log with one point with two games to the end of the campaign.

At the last count, the ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has claimed about eight league titles in his managerial career so far, but insists Liverpool have been the most loyal and committed rival after playing the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid while at Bundesliga and La Liga.
