Ondo governor Akeredolu unaware of alleged suspension by APC leadership

– Governor Akeredolu says it is not true that he has been suspended by the APC national leadership

– The Ondo state chief executive said he had no official correspondence to that effect in a text message on Saturday, April 20

– APC leaders in Ondo state have in the past accused the governor of anti-party activities which he has denied

Ondo state governor Rotimi Akeredolu has denied claims that he has been suspended by the National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Daily Independent reports.

According to the national daily, the governor, who spoke with its correspondent in a text message sent on Saturday, April 20, said he was unaware of his suspension by the APC national leadership.

The governor said he was yet to receive any official communication from the party announcing his suspension.

I have not received any letter be it query or suspension. Thanks,” the governor said in the text message he was said to have sent personally.

Recall that Legit.ng reported weeks back that leaders of the APC in Ondo state accused Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of working against President Muhammadu Buhari‘s re-election.

In a chat with newsmen on Monday, February 18, the leaders said the APC’s fortunes in the state were being affected by the governor’s support for his allies who defected to the Action Alliance (AA).

The leaders alerted Buhari and the APC’s national leadership to a looming defeat of the APC presidential candidate in Ondo state, due to the governor’s alleged anti-party activities.
