Magu Prays With Buhari At Villa Mosque
President Muhammad Buhari was joined at the Presidential Villa mosque for Jumaat prayers by embattled acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.
Also at the mosque to pray alongside Buhari was the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno; Niger State governor, Abubakar Bello; and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. Magu has been a regular worshiper at the Villa mosque on Fridays since the President returned from a medication vacation abroad.
This is even as the anti-corruption chief has been in a battle of wits with the Senate, which has refused to confirm him as substantive chairman of the EFCC.
After the prayers, Magu stayed back to have a word word with the NSA and the two left the mosque together.
Monguno and Malami are members of the Presidential panel headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo that is investigating corruption allegations against suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayodele Oke. The panel, which has a two-week deadline to conclude its assignment, has been meeting since Wednesday, and has reportedly met with some security officials, including Magu.
