Kaduna State Police Command maps out strategy to curb crimes
The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, Ibrahim Adamu, has observed that rape cases and defiling of female minors was on the increase in the State.
He, however, said he would study the pattern of crime and put measures to curb the menace.
Speaking Tuesday when he paid a courtesy visit to the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), he explained that two aged men, all above sixty years were currently in custody of the Police for defiling their minor daughters, both below the ages of ten.
“I am doing my best to study the crime trend in Kaduna and mapping out strategy to curtail it,” he stressed.
He asserted that Kaduna crime trend could be grouped into three: Southern Kaduna, ethno-religious dimension, Birnin Gwari-Zaria, cattle rustling and the central zone battling with juvenile delinquency, youth restiveness among others.
On the occasional disturbances by a set of rival youth groups known as Sarasuka, Yanshara in various communities in the state, the Commissioner of Police said the command had also mapped out strategies to curtail their violent acts, especially as the Eid-El-Fitr approached.
He assured that in the various communities, the leaders of the gang groups were being identified and picked by the police.
He also revealed that, “We have intercepted a syndicate that specialises in ATM and other financial crimes. Some members are arrested as we traced them to even Southern part of Nigeria.”
He sought for media corporation in fighting security challenges in the state and the nation at large.
“We got useful information through the media coverage which has aided the police. There is general security challenges in Nigeria and Kaduna is no exception.
“My doors are open for the media always for clarification and I am more than willing to respond to your enquiries always”, he stated.
He urged the media to enlighten the public on security risk and others as Nigerians approached Eid el Fitr celebration.

On Kaduna-Abuja highway and incessant robbery and kidnapping, he said the corridor was becoming safer due to the number of personnel and vehicle deployed by the police to man it on a daily basis.
Earlier in his remark, Kaduna Council Chairman, Comrade Garba Muhammad, applauded the police over the arrest of kidnappers in their large numbers in the state and asked the police not to relent.
