Breaking: Nigeria’s Covid-19 cases exceed 8,000 as NCDC announces 229 new cases
– NCDC has announced 229 new cases of coronavirus pandemic
– With the report, the total infection has now crossed the 8,000 threshold
– Seven more deaths were reported as total casualties now hit 233 – with 2,311 recoveries
Fresh 229 cases of coronavirus have been announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), bringing the total infections to 8,068 with seven more deaths.
The national disease control agency announced the new cases via its Twitter page on Monday evening, May 25.
NCDC also recorded 12 cases in Plateau, 9 cases in Ogun, 7 in Delta, 5 cases each in Borno and Rivers.
In total, 2,311 patients have been successfully discharged after testing negative, while seven more deaths were recorded in what brought total fatalities to 233.
Earlier Legit.ng reported that (NCDC) has disclosed that a total of 45,683 samples have been collected and examined since February 2020 when coronavirus hit the country against all odds.
The agency made the disclosure in its situation report of Sunday, May 24, as Nigeria’s Covid-19 cases spiked in magnitude, posing a great challenge to the economy and security of lives.
Of the total tested cases, over 7839 people were tested positive to the fast-spreading virus which has plunged the world into the arguably biggest crisis in modern history.
It would be recalled that on Sunday night, NCDC announced 313 new cases in 17 states with Lagos leading the pack with 148 new cases.
In its subsequent update on Monday, May 25, the agency stated that 2,263 people have been successfully discharged as the pandemic spreads to 35 states including the FCT.
