Sagbokodji island residents in Apapa, Lagos have not had electricity in over 100 years (video)

Despite the dwindling state of electricity in the country, citizens still manage to enjoy a few hours of power supply that makes life more convenient.

However, for residents of Sagbokodji, an island located in the Apapa area of Lagos state, electricity has been a luxury they have not been afforded in more than a century.

In a report by BBC Pidgin, residents of the area revealed that they have never enjoyed power supply from the former government owned National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) turned Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).

They said people residing in the community are often enveloped in a blanket of darkness once it is nighttime.
