Speaking in the meeting organized by her in collaboration with concerned indigenes of the northeastern state, Aisha however did not reveal when the university would be established or where it would be located.
She explained though that the varsity would be established in collaboration with partners from Sudan and Qatar.
“I cannot conclude without suggesting how we can complement the efforts of government in achieving some of its developmental goals.
“On this note, I would like to advocate for the establishment of Adamawa Development Trust Fund through which prioritized developmental projects can be financed and implemented,” she said.
According to NAN, other speakers at the meeting include Prof. Shehu Iya of Modibbo Adama University, Yola, who spoke on education; Prof. Auwal Abubakar of Federal Medical Centre, Yola, who spoke on health; and Mrs Helen Mathias who spoke on women and youths.
Others were Mallam Umar Abubakar who spoke on security; Gen. Buba Marwa on dr*ugs; Sen. Silas Zwingina on Good Governance, and Dr Umar Bindir who spoke on Poverty.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Adamawa state chapter, has expressed confidence that the incoming administration would pay N32,000 minimum wage to workers in the state.
Rodney Nathan, chairman of the state chapter, who commended President Muhammadu Buhari, for signing into law the N30,000 new national minimum wage for workers, however, noted that the state workers were looking forward to receiving N32,000 as minimum wage.
Nathan said that the workers’ optimism was drawn from the governor-elect, Ahmadu Fintiri’s electioneering promise to pay workers N32,000 minimum wage.
